Meet Stephanie Hansen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Hansen.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Stephanie Hansen and I’m the podcaster, brand amplifier, and social commentator behind StephaniesDish.com and @MakersofMN. It all began in 2005 when Stephanie March (Food Editor for Mpls.St.Paul Magazine) and I started the radio show #WeeklyDish on the Twin Cities station FM107.1. 15 years later, the show is going strong. You can listen every week live on Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m., or find the WeeklyDish podcast of each show where you find your favorite podcasts.

As a recipe developer, blogger and photographer, I love to cook, but I really love to eat. On my website, I love to talk about my eating and dining experiences, share recipes and makers and then do radio shows and podcasts with some of the movers and shakers in the industry. I started another podcast called Dishing With Stephanie’s Dish that you can find wherever you find your podcasts, to talk to industry friends and Cookbook authors.

And I don’t stop there. I spent 15 years building a printing and graphic design business that I sold in 2017. I think of myself as a local entrepreneur, and in 2014 I won The Business Woman of the Year award. I enjoy talking to other local entrepreneurs on my podcast @makersofmn. I love interviewing craftsmen that create interesting products and new businesses. The @makersofmn episodes are posted on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook or you can find them where you find your favorite podcast shows.

Finally, I am a cookbook writer. My Cookbook the True North Cabin Cookbook will be published on September 2022 with the Minnesota Historical Press.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Financing for small businesses is always an issue and loans are hard to come by without leveraging your home. I recall when we started our business the banker complimented us on our thorough business plan right before telling is he could give us a loan but only if we used our home for collateral. I didn’t want a home loan – I wanted a banking partner.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Social Media and content development at StephaniesDish.com is my primary role. Broadcaster, Recipe Development, Minnesota Maker Champion and Podcaster at Weekly Dish, MakersofMN and Dishing With Stephanies Dish are how I spend most of my time.

Any big plans?
Cookbook debut in 2022.
